Three male teens stole beer and broke into approximately 25 cars in Salt Lake City overnight, police said.

The trio, ages 14, 16 and 17, were arrested by police responding to reports of a car prowl near 700 South and Douglas Street (1240 East) about 1:30 a.m., said Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Snyder.

An officer saw a suspicious car and tried to pull it over, but the driver sped away. He crashed the car on 1100 East near 400 South, and everyone inside ran. One young man was caught at the scene, and officers and police dogs nabbed the other two close by.

Another officer on the west side of the city heard their description and matched it to a beer run at 910 North and 900 West earlier that night. She identified the three, and they were booked into juvenile detention.
