Logan » Officials say the head of Utah State University's counseling center has been killed in a vehicle crash.
The Utah Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Mary E. Doty was killed Wednesday when her vehicle was hit head- on by a pickup truck on State Road 30.
Troopers say the driver of the pickup had apparently fallen asleep at the wheel.
The highway patrol says Doty was killed on impact. A dog in the back seat was restrained and survived the crash. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition with some broken bones.
Doty had been the counseling center director since 1992 and part of the staff there since 1989.
