Police said a 19-year-old Salt Lake City man is in serious condition with a head wound after being assaulted in his garage early Monday.

The teen was attacked just after midnight by four people who entered his garage near 900 West and 300 North from the back alley, police said. The victim was in the garage with his toddler son.

A witness heard arguing, fighting, and at least three gunshots, according to police. The intruders, whom the victim said hit him in the back of the head with something such as a pipe, allegedly drove off in a light-colored small car.

Salt Lake City Police Department spokeswoman Lara Jones said that the victim, who suffered a laceration to the back of his head, was uncooperative with investigators. Jones said investigators suspect the incident is gang-related.

Police » Investigators think the assault is related to gang activity, but victim isn't cooperating.
