A Salt Lake City man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man who broke up a bar fight.

The victim separated two people in the parking lot at Lumpy's bar, located at 3020 South Highland Drive, early the morning of June 21, said Salt Lake County sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson. Then the 32-year-old man, who knows both the victim and the people fighting, rushed out of the bar and attacked him from behind.

Prosecutors on Thursday filed charges of aggravated assault or, in the alternative, attempted murder, in 3rd District Court. Both are second degree felonies.
