A Michigan man died early Wednesday morning in a fatigue-related crash in Carbon County, police said.

At about 12:30 a.m., an eastbound GMC Sierra crossed the center line on a curve on State Road 6 near Helper, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden.

The pickup truck collided with a Lexus head-on. Evidence from the scene suggests that neither car tried to swerve or move out of the way. The passenger in the Lexus, 63-year-old Robert C. Jackson Sr., of Hazel Park, Mich., was killed at the scene.

The driver, his son, suffered critical injuries to his head and legs and was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The pickup driver's legs were seriously injured, and he was also taken to Utah Valley. Police believe the fatigue on his part may have been a factor.

The accident will be investigated and screened with the district attorney for possible charges.
