Salt Lake City police officers arrested two men suspected of a carjacking Tuesday night.
About 7 p.m., a 42-year-old man was sitting in his car and reading a book near 500 South and 300 East, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Robin Snyder. He was approached by two men who pointed a gun at him and demanded his car. He got out, and the two men drove away.
Two officers spotted the car close by and chased it for a few minutes. The pair stopped the car at 600 South and 600 East, bailed out and ran.
One 24-year-old man was arrested close by and a second 24-year-old was cornered by a police dog and arrested in the Trolley Square mall parking lot. Officers recovered the gun and booked the two men on suspicion of aggravated robbery, felony fleeing, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
