A Salt Lake City man heard a noise and ended up chasing a burglar out of his apartment Sunday night.

The man was asleep in the bedroom of his apartment near 650 South and 300 East when he heard something and quietly walked to his bedroom's doorway.

In front of the doorway, he reached out and put an unknown man in a headlock. The two men struggled briefly and knocked a clock off the wall, police said, but the burglar was able to run out the front door and down the hallway.

The man lost sight of the burglar and was not injured in the short fight aside from a scratch on his hand.

The burglar was described as a white man between 45 and 50 years old, standing about 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 9-inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds. He also had an athletic build and dark clothes.

The burglar got away with medication and a wallet, police said.
