A 26-year-old man is behind bars and facing felony charges after he allegedly robbed a man at knifepoint, accidentally cut himself, and got away with only $5 in gas money and some marijuana.

The man pulled a knife on another man at a West Valley City 7-Eleven and demanded his belongings. The man turned over his money and some marijuana, and the robber then got into a red Pontiac and drove away, according to a probable cause statement filed with the Salt Lake County jail.

Salt Lake City police found the man and turned him over to West Valley City police.

The man told investigators he needed gas money, and the victim only gave him $5 and some marijuana. He said he used the $5 to put gas in his car. The robber also accidentally cut his left index finger with the knife.

The man told police he was not a legal U.S. citizen, and he was booked into jail on suspicion of two felonies for aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a restricted person. He also faces two misdemeanors for giving police false information and possession of marijuana.
