A three-hour standoff here ended Tuesday morning when a fugitive surrendered to police.

The three-hour standoff began about 8:50 a.m. when an anonymous person called police to report an armed and wanted man was inside a Taylorsville home near 3900 West and 4900 South, said Taylorsville police Detective Shannon Bennett.

The 24-year-old convicted robber was wanted for a parole violation and was listed on the Utah Department of Corrections' list of most wanted parole fugitives.

According to his mother, her son and his girlfriend had recently returned from out of state so he could surrender. The family had spent Monday evening together, and the fugitive planned to go to the Taylorsville Police Department on Tuesday.

But before he could do that, SWAT teams swarmed the Taylorsville home, which the man's mother said belonged to his girlfriend.

SWAT and tactical teams made contact with the man inside the home, and his mother told him to come out. He eventually walked out of the house and surrendered without incident, Bennett said.

The man has been convicted of robbery, apparently is a suspect in another holdup and had absconded from parole, according to the Utah Department of Corrections.
