West Valley City police are looking for a man who robbed a credit union Thursday.

About 11:30 a.m., a man wearing a dark hoodie, ski mask and gloves walked into the Utah Central Credit Union near 4800 West and 4100 South, showed a silver handgun and demanded cash, said West Valley City police Capt. Tom McLachlan. The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money, and the man drove away in a white Saturn.

The car -- stolen out of Salt Lake City -- was found several blocks northwest of the bank, with an exploded anti-theft dye pack inside.

Carl Sandburg Elementary School was briefly locked down and a helicopter was used as part of the search, officials there said. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call 801-840-4000.
