Posted: 11:07 AM- The Utah Jazz, shorthanded because of illness and injury in their past two games, could find themselves in the same position for tonight's critical contest with Washington.

Although Memo Okur is feeling better after his second bout with a stomach virus in the past few weeks and might "possibly" play, Jazz spokesman Jonathan Rinehart said Monday morning that Andrei Kirilenko is "questionable" with a bruised calf and Ronnie Brewer's availability will be a "game-time decision."

Brewer suffered a groin strain in the third quarter of Sunday's 110-103 loss at Minnesota. He returned briefly in the fourth quarter, when the Timberwolves built a nine-point lead and held off Utah, which got as close as three down the stretch. But the Jazz's inability to stop Minnesota cost them dearly in the glove-tight Western Conference playoff race.

If the Jazz had beaten the 'Wolves, they would have stayed within two games of first-place San Antonio and New Orleans in the West and moved within one-half game of Phoenix and Houston for the fourth-best record in the conference and homecourt advantage in the first-round of the playoffs.

Instead, the Jazz lost to the 19-win Timberwolves, who scored 67 points in the second half and stalled Utah's bid to wrap up the Northwest Division title and clinch the No. 4 seed in the West.

Unfortunately for Utah, being the fourth-seed does not guarantee homecourt advantage in the first round, which could be vital for a team that is 32-4 at EnergySolutions Arena and 16-22 on the road, where it has lost to bottom-feeders like Miami, New York, Charlotte, Chicago, Indiana, the L.A. Clippers and Minnesota.

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan isn't looking that far into the future - not after a lifeless loss to the Timberwolves.

"Obviously, if you don't win, you don't get into the playoffs," he said. "People have penciled us in way too soon."

Utah could take a step in the right direction by beating Washington.

The Jazz scored a 96-87 win over the Wizards in February, when Okur scored 27 points. But Washington has won eight of its last 11 games. The Wizards come off a 126-120 overtime loss to Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers on Sunday night.

Still, the Wizards have moved ahead of trying Philadelphia and Toronto for fifth place in the East. The No. 5 seed will likely draw Cleveland in the first round, while the No. 6 seed will play Orlando and the No. 7 seed gets battle-tested Detroit.

Rookie Nick Young scored a career-high 27 points against the Lakers and the Wizards made 17 of 30 three-point shots, including one by Caron Butler with 10 seconds left in regulation that tied the game.
