The Jazz let the Bobcats close within three points with 6:15 to play before restoring order and taking a 128-106 victory. Kyle Korver hit three three-pointers in the fourth quarter and the Jazz avoided losing to a sub-.500 team at home for the first time all season.
Carlos Boozer led the Jazz with 28 points and 13 rebounds while Mehmet Okur had 20, including 13 in the second quarter. Deron Williams totaled 14 points and 15 assists, Matt Harpring had a season-high 18 points off the bench and Korver finished with 10.
For a few anxious moments, though, the Jazz conjured up memories of their 98-92 loss to Charlotte back on Dec. 19. They blew a 12-point lead in the final six minutes and suffered one of the season's most deflating losses.
The Jazz led by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter Tuesday before the Bobcats rallied. They closed to 101-92 as Gerald Wallace hit a three-pointer and finished an alley-oop dunk from Earl Boykins after Korver missed for Utah.
Jazz coach Jerry Sloan called timeout, but the Bobcats kept coming. Williams had a pass stolen and Boykins flipped in a layup on the fast break. After a Boozer miss, Boykins was fouled and sank two free throws.
The Jazz were in the penalty with 9:47 left (Sloan and Okur both were whistled for early technicals) and Jason Richardson drew a fifth foul on Williams and converted two free throws as Charlotte pulled within 101-98 with 6:15 left.
But Andrei Kirilenko helped restore order for the Jazz, driving for a layup while being fouled by Jamareo Davidson. Kirilenko couldn't finish the three-point play, but Korver drilled a three-pointer after the Jazz rebounded Kirilenko's missed free throw.
That made it 106-98, and Korver nailed another three-pointer 37 seconds later to put the Jazz ahead 109-100. Boozer had a monster dunk off the pick-and-roll with 3:57 to play and Korver buried his third three-pointer of the fourth.
