Posted: 11:20 PM- SAN ANTONIO - The numbers pretty much told the story for the Jazz - and the Spurs - in Game 5 on Wednesday night at AT&T Center.

Foremost among them were the lopsided digits on the scoreboard: 109-84.

That was just the beginning.

The Spurs outshot the Jazz, 51 percent to 38.

Those numbers were more out-of-balance early in the first half, where this game was decided: The Jazz made only 31 percent of their shots in the first quarter. The Spurs made 65 percent over the same span, when they built a 34-15 lead.

The Jazz simply could not shoot straight, much of that because of their untidy shot selection. Too often, they did exactly what they said they wouldn't do - take impatient shots from the perimeter.

"They got a great start," said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan. "They came at us really hard. We lost faith as far as anything we wanted to do. They destroyed our will to want to play. And that was, really, to me, that was the whole thing that started the ball game off.

"They started hard on both ends of the floor. We started shooting jump shots and we abandoned our offense right away. And we never could get back into it the rest of the night."

All while the Spurs sliced and diced them - with effective drives by Tony Parker, 21 points, five assists, accurate bombs by Manu Ginobili, 12 points, and devastating play in the lowpost from Tim Duncan, 21 points.

The scrubs cleaned up from there.

The Spurs even outrebounded the Jazz, 43-41.

A stat that often reveals the Jazz's effectiveness on offense is total assists. In Game 5, the Jazz had only 13. The Spurs got 22.

The Spurs were efficient with the ball, too, committing only seven turnovers. The Jazz nearly doubled that amount.

The personel fouls were dead even - at 25 each.

The Spurs were more effective from three, making 7 of 15 attempts. The Jazz only made 2 of 8.

The Jazz were awarded 43 free throws, the Spurs had 32.
