Phoenix » From the reports he received following Wednesday's meeting between his agent and Jazz chief executive Greg Miller , Carlos Boozer said he believes the Jazz will try to find a way to re-sign him this summer no matter their payroll situation.
"Yeah, I got that feeling," Boozer said. "I definitely agree with that. That's pretty much what the message was."
Boozer added that he "couldn't be more pleased" with how the meeting went with Miller, Jazz president Randy Rigby , general manager Kevin O'Connor and Boozer's agent, Rob Pelinka . Most important was hearing the Jazz's interest in keeping him as a free agent.
"That's something I didn't know; that's why we had the meeting," Boozer said. "I'm happy with how it turned out. Now we can leave the rest of it 'til July and see what happens."
Rigby attended Friday's game and said of the meeting, "Both of us expressed that what happened in the past is over, and both of us felt those issues are no longer roadblocks for us and that we both have a desire to want to see if we can jointly build something for the future.
"We have a strong interest in talking with him and seeing if we can do something for the future, and they expressed an interest of Carlos wanting to play in Utah."
Between Andrei Kirilenko , Deron Williams , Mehmet Okur and Paul Millsap , the Jazz already have nearly $49 million committed in salary next season to those four players even before taking Boozer into account.
The Jazz are paying the luxury tax for the first time in franchise history this season.
D-Will in, Kirilenko out
As much as he's hurting right now, Williams said he never gave thought to sitting out against the Suns in the hopes of resting his sprained right wrist, bruised left shoulder and sprained left ankle.
Especially not with the Jazz trying to hold off Phoenix and Oklahoma City and remain in position for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. "It's pretty much a no-brainer for me to play tonight," Williams said.
Kirilenko, meanwhile, sat out for the third time in four games after re-aggravating his strained left calf Wednesday. Kirilenko is not expected to play tonight but said he might return Monday against Boston.
Wesley Matthews described himself as feeling "blessed" and "thankful" for escaping serious injury when he hyperextended his left knee Wednesday.
