The Jazz welcomed back Mehmet Okur for Monday's game against Washington, giving them 10 players in uniform one night after they were short-handed in Oklahoma City, with Andrei Kirilenko and Ronnie Price likely to return in the coming days as well.
After sitting out with back spasms, Okur reported feeling better and was in the starting lineup. Okur opted not to receive a painkilling injection in the hopes of playing against the Wizards. Had he received it, Okur would have been sidelined at least 24 hours.
Kirilenko, meanwhile, worked out before the game with a sleeve on his strained left calf. He underwent an MRI exam that came back negative for any muscle tears and was hopeful that he could play "probably next game" Wednesday against Minnesota.
"It's definitely getting better day after day, but it's still not there yet, there's still a little pain," Kirilenko said.
Kirilenko missed his second consecutive game after exiting in the third quarter Friday at Milwaukee. Price sat out his third game with a sprained right wrist but said he was planning to practice or work out today and return soon after.
"I'm not sitting out for too much longer," Price said, adding that there wasn't much use for timetables with him. "Someone else telling me something is different from me feeling something. If they said two weeks, it still wouldn't matter. I'd be back sooner than that."
Price also underwent an MRI on Monday, which reported both a sprain and bruising in his wrist. He was injured when he broke his fall after dunking over Austin Daye in the second quarter Wednesday at Detroit.
With 10 players available, Jazz general manager Kevin O'Conno r opted not to recall Kosta Koufos from his NBA Development League assignment with the Utah Flash, who played host to Erie (Pa.) on Monday.
"It's a matter of him getting some playing time and playing minutes, and that's what he's been doing," O'Connor said.
Summer school
The Jazz have reserved dates (July 24-30) to potentially host the Rocky Mountain Revue and are exploring options as far as teams that could take part, though a return of the long-standing summer league is anything but a certainty.
Facing competition from a rival league in Las Vegas as well as the recession, the Jazz canceled the Revue last spring and opted to play in an Orlando, Fla., summer league hosted at the Magic's practice facility.
The Jazz have talked about potentially returning to Orlando or playing in a league in Chicago should they be unable to host the Revue. They figure to be a featured team with the top rookie they will draft thanks to the draft pick they are owed from New York.
Briefly
Jazz chief executive Greg Miller posted on his Twitter account that the team already has sold more season tickets for 2010-11 than it did for all of this season. ... Shaun Livingston replaced Randy Foye in the starting lineup for Washington. Livingston is playing on the second of two 10-day contracts with the Wizards, though he had 18 points and eight assists in Saturday's loss to Orlando.
