Boozer named Player of the Month
Los Angeles » Carlos Boozer might have been passed over for the All-Star Game, but the Jazz forward on Monday was selected as Western Conference Player of the Month for February.
It was the second time Boozer has been named conference Player of the Month after he was honored for his play in November 2007. Boozer averaged 21.2 points and 13.0 rebounds as the Jazz went 10-3 in February.
Boozer was selected as the conference Player of the Week last week after leading the Jazz to a 4-0 trip coming back from the All-Star break. Boozer's month was highlighted by his 22-point, 23-rebound effort in the Jazz's Feb. 21 comeback victory in Portland.
Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire also were nominated, according to the NBA. LeBron James was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
Boozer was not selected to the All-Star Game despite the West team needing three injury replacement players.
Karl Malone won conference Player of the Month honors seven times in his career while John Stockton was selected once.
