Although Virginia Commonwealth guard Eric Maynor had to pull out of a workout Saturday with back spasms, the Jazz were able to bring in Maynor for an interview on Wednesday on the eve of the NBA Draft.

Maynor averaged 22.4 points and 6.2 assists as a senior and helped lead VCU to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years. Back in 2007, Maynor hit the game-winning 15-footer as the Rams upset Duke in the first round.

He joins Wake Forest's Jeff Teague among point guards projected to be drafted in the mid- to late-first round to interview or work out in Utah. UCLA's Darren Collison , North Carolina's Ty Lawson and St. Mary's Patrick Mills all passed.

Jazz also made preparations in the event a projected lottery pick unexpectedly falls to No. 20, interviewing Memphis guard Tyreke Evans and UCLA guard Jrue Holiday at last month's draft combine in Chicago.

They were not able to interview Brandon Jennings , the 19-year-old guard who bypassed college to play for an Italian team. Once considered a certain lottery pick, Jennings was projected in one mock draft Wednesday as sliding to Atlanta with the No. 19 pick.

No word

Although Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor asked the agents for Carlos Boozer , Mehmet Okur and Kyle Korver to share their opt-out decisions as soon as possible,

the Jazz do not expect to hear from any of the three before tonight's draft.

Boozer, Okur and Korver must decide by Tuesday about opting out of their contracts and becoming free agents. The draft and the trade activity surrounding it could change the outlook for each player.

"They're going to wait and see what the landscape looks like before June 30th, before they make their decision," O'Connor said.

Summer plans

The Jazz still are trying to convince Kyrylo Fesenko to join their summer-league team, but O'Connor sounded as if he could live with Fesenko's decision to play for Ukraine in relegation round games as part of the European championships.

"We would prefer that he come, but depending on if the dates cross, I understand what he's saying, too," O'Connor said. The Jazz exercised an $870,000 option earlier this month to bring back Fesenko for a third season. ... The Jazz have not done so, but will make Paul Millsap a one-year, $1.030 million qualifying offer to retain Millsap's rights as a restricted free agent, O'Connor said.
