It took six weeks, but KJZZ is being carried by DirecTV again after the two sides reached agreement on a retransmission deal Wednesday.

The Jazz announced the deal in the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Lakers. Team president Randy Rigby said the station and satellite provider agreed to release details today, but that it is a multi-year deal.

KJZZ previously had asked DirecTV to pay a fee of 16 cents per subscriber to continue to carry the station. The satellite provider balked at the proposal, with KJZZ televising a limited Jazz schedule and not affiliated with a major broadcast network.

The station countered that its request was less than what DirecTV and other providers pay for local affliates of broadcast networks. KJZZ also had reached fee agreements with other local cable and satellite providers.

Rigby would not say Wednesday whether DirecTV had agreed to pay a subscriber fee or whether a game against the Lakers was the impetus to reach agreement. The station had been pulled from DirecTV's lineup effective Jan. 1.

"It took a lot longer than we had planned and hoped it would take, and it's great to have it done," Rigby said.
