Jazz: Millsap to undergo MRI exam

Jazz forward Paul Millsap had hoped he could return from a bruised right knee to play Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Instead, Millsap headed for an MRI exam after the Jazz's pregame shootaround at the Ford Center.

"It still don't feel right," Millsap said. "It feels like it's not getting better. So I'm going to go get it checked out today."

Millsap was hopeful it was just a slow-healing bruise. He suffered the injury when he banged knees with Kyle Korver in the second quarter of Saturday's victory over Detroit.

He said his right knee was feeling worse than his left knee, which he hyperextended in the Jazz's Dec. 23 game against Milwaukee. "When I run and jump on it, it hurts a lot," said Millsap, who missed three games with the hyperextended knee.

C.J. Miles also isn't expected to play tonight, sitting out his third game with a sprained right ankle. Miles said the goal was to practice Thursday and return Friday against Memphis.

Miles, who signed an offer sheet with Oklahoma City this summer, went through part of shootaround and was feeling "semi-decent." He did some running and defensive slides.

"If I'm a day away from feeling real good and real sure about myself, it doesn't make sense to play today and not play the next game," Miles said.

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said he would start Ronnie Price in Miles' place and Andrei Kirilenko in Millsap's. The Jazz will look to end a four-game road losing streak with their game against the 6-33 Thunder.
