Jazz all tapped out at point guard

There's no telling exactly what the Jazz will do at point guard in Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks at EnergySolutions Arena.

Deron Williams remains out with a sprained left ankle and Brevin Knight is doubtful with a strained left groin. Ronnie Price is expected to start, but the Jazz might have to use C.J. Miles as a backup at the position.

"If they need me to do it, I'm going to step in there and try to stay solid and try to help the team win the game," Miles said at the pregame shootaround.

The Jazz experimented with Miles as a point guard in training camp and the preseason. The last time he played the position before this season, however, was back in high school.

"It gave me a little bit more comfortability with it if I'm called upon tonight to do it," Miles said, "so I'm just going to try to step in there and, like I said, not turn the ball over."

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said he would pair Miles with Andrei Kirilenko to give the Jazz an extra ball-handler if Miles had to play point guard.

Williams, meanwhile, officially now has missed a month with the sprained ankle he suffered in an Oct. 18 preseason game, though he did make a premature return for two games last week.

He said he was still regaining strength in the ankle and was getting closer to a return.

"I feel like I'm getting stronger," Williams said. "A lot of my game is changing directions, explosion. It's hard for me to do that stuff right now."

Williams added that he thought the Jazz would be fine with Price and a series of fill-in point guards against the Bucks, who start Luke Ridnour and bring Ramon Sessions off the bench.

"The thing about our offense is you've just got to get it up the court and enter it in and after that, you can just rely on the system," Williams said. "If we execute, we'll be fine."

After missing Monday's game with a sore back, Mehmet Okur told Sloan that he wanted to play. He is expected to start against Andrew Bogut and the Bucks. Jarron Collins won't play as he continues to nurse a right elbow injury.
