A man died early Tuesday morning when his SUV was involved in crashes with two trucks on Interstate 80 near the Utah-Nevada border.

The Utah Highway Patrol reported that at 2:27 a.m., 33 miles east of Wendover, a westbound Nissan Pathfinder was in the right lane, traveling less than the speed limit, when it drifted over and struck the side of a westbound box van that was attempting to pass. The box van pulled over and stopped.

Then, as a semi-trailer rig was overtaking the Nissan in the left lane and preparing to pass, the SUV moved into the left lane and the semi struck its rear end, UHP reported. The Nissan went off the right side of the road and rolled.

The single male occupant, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The man's identity was not immediately determined.

The semi truck drove off the right side of the road and came to a stop.

No other injuries were reported.

The right westbound lane was closed for about five hours while wreckage was cleared.

The accident remained under investigation.
