The Warriors say head coach Steve Kerr is on the "path to recovery" after undergoing a procedure at Duke University to address his chronic back pain.

Doctors completed the spinal cord leak procedure on Friday, Golden State general manager Bob Myers told reporters Sunday in Salt Lake City. Myers said he is "optimistic about his recovery," but did not know when or if Kerr would be able to return to coach the team.

"It's hard to answer some of this because even the doctors aren't entirely sure of recovery time," the general manager said. "… The procedure went well as far as we know. Now it's a case of how it takes and when."

Kerr, 51, has had multiple procedures over the past few years in hopes of quelling his pain. Last season, the 2016 NBA Coach of the Year had to miss 43 games because of his back. He has been unable to coach in any of the Warriors' first three games of Golden State's semifinal matchup with the Utah Jazz.

"All he thinks about is our team," Myers said. "When you're away from the team as a coach, I can't imagine how hard that must be to bear. The team you helped construct. You're the leader. That's hard."

Closing things out

The Warriors are looking to complete their second straight sweep of the postseason when they take the court at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Monday night.

"Duplicating what we did in Portland is definitely the goal," Warriors coach Mike Brown said. "… [But] everybody on that team's a fighter. Quin [Snyder] is going to have those guys ready. The crowd's going to be in it. We're going to have our hands full."

Historical night

Warriors center Zaza Pachulia scored seven points in his team's Game 3 win on Saturday — one more than shooting guard Klay Thompson.

"Historical night," was how Pachulia captioned a photograph he took with Thompson.

That got a laugh out of his coach Sunday.

"He'll milk it just like he did the All-Star crap," Brown said, referring to the surprise support the Georgian center received in this year's fan voting. "That's Zaza."
