A Millcreek area man died Wednesday after being found unresponsive on Chip's Run at Snowbird.

The Unified Police Department identified the man as 54-year-old Daryl Norton.

UPD Detective Ken Hansen said it was not immediately known if Norton died from trauma or a medical issue.

Hansen called Norton "an experienced skier [who was] familiar with the area he was skiing."

A member of the Snowbird Ski Patrol found Norton alone and unresponsive at 10:08 a.m., according to a Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort news release.

The ski patrol immediately began giving first aid to the man, who was transported by Air Med to the nearby Powderbirds helipad. He was taken from there to a local hospital.
