A man is in serious condition after falling while paragliding off a mountain near Centerville.

The 50-year-old man had been paragliding off a rock near the "V" on the mountain east of Centerville just before 3 p.m., when he fell an estimated 1,000 feet, said Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. DeAnne Servey.

The man was conscious, breathing and alert, Servey said, adding that he is in serious condition and was transported to the University of Utah hospital. Neither he nor the group of seven he was with knew what caused the fall, Servey said.
