A man who was injured in an explosion in his Ogden home last week died of his injuries Tuesday, the University of Utah confirmed.

Bobby J. Orris, 42, was in his home at 2831 S. Monroe Blvd. when an explosion blew much of the roof off the house at 5:56 p.m. on March 7.

Moments after the explosion, the severely injured Orris escaped the engulfed home through an open window and was taken to University Hospital. He died Tuesday afternoon.

Fire authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. There was a gas leak at the time firefighters extinguished the blaze, but Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said it's not clear whether the leak preceded the explosion.

"When there's the extent of the damage to a home or property like there was on this one, it takes a lot of time for the investigators to sift through everything and do a thorough, complete investigation," Bauman said.
