Utah State freshman point guard Eliza West has been selected as women's basketball freshman of the year in the Mountain West Conference. The conference announced all-conference and end of season awards on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Rachel Brewster earned honorable mention all-conference honors, while freshman forward Shannon Dufficy joined West on the All-Freshman Team.

West, a 5-foot-5 native of Victoria, Australia, started all 29 games for the Aggies this season and averaged 8.8 points and 5.4 assists per game during conference play. She leads the squad in minutes played and has shot 34 percent from 3-point range. She ranked fifth in the conference in assists and third in steals.

West will see limited playing time in the conference tournament, which begins Monday, due to a hand injury.

"She's one of our leaders even thought she's only a freshman, a very dynamic kid and a very aggressive girl," Utah State head coach Jerry Finkbeiner said of West on Saturday.

Brewster ranked eighth in the conference in scoring (13.8 ppg in Mountain West games), and she shot 35.3 percent from 3-point shooting range.

Dufficy is the team's second-leading scorer (8.1 ppg), and ranked sixth in the conference in rebounding during conference play (8.5 rebounds per game).
