The Park City Area Restaurant Association (PCARA) Summer Cocktail Contest is now underway. Guests who visit one of the 26 participating restaurants can imbibe this year's creations and then vote for their favorite at parkcityrestaurants.com through July 31. One vote per email address.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning mixologist receives $200 and their creation will be featured in the restaurant association's fall "Dine About" marketing campaign.

The 2016 winner was the Silver Star Cafe's LaBounty Bourbon Ice Bomb, an eye-popping bourbon cocktail made with a hollowed-out ice sphere that, when tapped, explodes in the glass.

Some of this year's more interesting cocktails include the "Odd Duck," a gin-based drink that includes a duck egg; the "Red Velvet," mix of vodka, flavored liqueurs, organic beet juice and cream cheese sherbet; and the "Fireline," made with mezcal, hibiscus syrup and garnished with citrus ash from a wood fire oven.
