Sanpete County is a fun place to visit on the Memorial Day weekend with two major heritage events taking place.
The Friends of Historic Spring City will host the annual Spring City Heritage Day on May 27. And Ephraim's annual Scandinavian Festival, billed as the West's largest, is on Friday and Saturday, May 26-27.
The Spring City event includes tours of the town's mid-19th-century pioneer homes and buildings. Tours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tickets — $10 for adults and $5 for children — can be purchased at the Old School or Main Street Firehouse.
Spring City is a national historic district and the town is considered the best-preserved example of a 19th-century pioneer village in the U.S.
The restoration of the Old Spring City School has been completed. A celebration to dedicate it will be May 26 at 1 p.m.
In addition, a silent Art Squared auction featuring local artists will be Saturday at 2 p.m. An antique sale at the old school will start Saturday at 9 a.m. Visitors can view art and antiques at the Old School from 5 to 8 p.m. for a $5 entrance fee.
The event includes craft booths selling a variety of locally handcrafted items. Breakfast will be served at the city park between 8 and 10 a.m. and lunch at the historic Spring City Chapel between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Scandinavian Days features a quilt show, entertainment, craft and vendor booths, a Scandinavian dinner, Friday fireworks show, Saturday parade, fun runs, aebelskiver breakfast Saturday, car show, storytelling, pickleball tournament and area bus tours.
