Park City property owners who welcomed visitors into their homes through Airbnb earned $15 million during the recently completed ski season, the company said Thursday.

San Francisco-based Airbnb said it handled 1,900 listings involving 36,000 guests during the season. That guest number represented a 92 percent jump from the previous season, while the revenue earned by property hosts rose 78 percent year over year.

The average price for a booked listing in Park City was $456 per night, with most stays lasting for four nights.

"About 92 percent of the listings on Airbnb in Park City are entire homes, which are ideal for families and larger groups," said Airbnb spokeswoman Jasmine Mora. "Of these listings, 77 percent are multibedroom listings that can accommodate multiple generations of families."

There are 1,200 active Airbnb hosts in Park City, 52 percent of whom are female. On average about 44 years old, Airbnb hosts earned about $10,000 in the past year, she said.

Almost a quarter of Airbnb's guests in Park City came from California, with 5.7 percent hailing from Los Angeles and 4.2 percent from San Francisco, the second and third most widely represented cities in the listing.

New York was the top individual city, accounting for 7.2 percent of Airbnb's Park City visitors. Chicago and San Diego rounded out the top five cities of origin for Park City guests.

Founded in San Francisco in 2008, Airbnb said it has helped arrange accommodations for more than 150 million guests traveling in 191 countries. It boasts 3 million listings worldwide.
