A Utah man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he accepted a bribe to pass a man who had failed a commercial driver license (CDL) test.

Antonio Estuardo Tinti pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City earlier this month to making a false statement related to the administration of a CDL test.

Court documents said Tinti administered a CDL road test in March 2013 to Gregorio Bozas, and certified that he passed it. However, Bozas drove over multiple curbs, which is an automatic road-test failure. Tinti accepted a $150 bribe to sign a passing score sheet.

As part of the plea, Tinti agreed to a lifetime ban from all aspects of the trucking industry, including truck driver education.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Utah Department of Public Safety.
