Park City store to mark the farthest Western expansion of L.L. Bean

L.L. Bean, the 105-year-old Maine-based outdoor apparel and recreation equipment seller, plans to open a retail store in Park City. To be located in a building under construction at Main Street and Heber Avenue, the store is looking to hire staff and open next winter or spring, said General Manager Ken Kacere.

"We have been looking at this area for some time to do what we consider a special type of store," Kacere said, calling Park City "a great outdoor community."

L.L. Bean also is an official supplier for the U.S. Ski Team, which is based in Park City, providing an added inducement to open a retail store there, he said.

Owned by descendants of its founder, L.L. Bean, the company's Freeport, Maine home town is small and outdoors-oriented like Park City, Kacere said. The Utah store will be the farthest west of the company's 33 retail stores.
