Ranch home near Zion park, Heber restaurant to be auctioned

A ranch home five minutes from Zion National Park and a restaurant in Heber City are going on the auction block.

Erkelens & Olson, a Salt Lake City auctioneer, will conduct both sales. The first takes place at 10 a.m. Thursday at 1267 E. Main Street in Heber City, site of the Claim Jumper Restaurant.

Auctioneer Rob Olson said the estate's owner is selling everything to make way for a commercial development. Besides kitchen equipment, restaurant offerings include Western-oriented antiques such as hickory chairs and tables, saddles, bridles, chaps, chandeliers with rifles, photos of world-champion cowboys and cowboy memorabilia.

Beer signs, a piano and all of the building's wood flooring, walls and roof also will be sold for cash or certified funds. The building may be examined Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On April 11, Erkelens & Olson will auction an 11,000 square foot, two-story ranch home on 10 acres in Rockville. The owners, Olson said, chose an auction as their means of selling the property along with a bunk house for staff quarters, a log cabin, well-groomed grounds and water rights for a swimming pool and a stocked pond.

The building at 991 W. 230 South was used as a 16-bed residential treatment center.

Bidders must present a $50,000 cashier's check to participate. Open houses will be held Wednesday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. An aerial drone video also may be viewed at http://www.salesandauction.com. That site also has photographs of both locations.
