A Salt Lake City man is facing rape charges after police said he assaulted four women last year.

John M. Lowther, 22, was with a woman at her house on Valentine's Day, according to charging documents filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court. She went to bed but awoke with the man nude on top of her. She told him "no" and struggled to get him off, but the man raped her, documents state. She continued to struggle and he left.

In July, Lowther was with another woman at a home. After the woman went to bed, she awoke to him on top of her, assaulting her, according to court documents. She tried to force his hands away and told him to leave.

Finally, in September, two women were at a home with Lowther when they fell asleep in the same bed. He entered the room a short time later and lay between them. He allegedly fondled one of the women, who grabbed his hand, told him to stop and left the room. The other woman told police she was asleep when she woke up to the man allegedly raping her.

Lowther was charged with two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies; object rape, a first-degree felony; and two counts of forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies.
