Up for sale: Historic chairs from Wildcat lift in Snowbasin

Fans of Snowbasin Resort now can buy a piece of the Ogden-area resort's history.

Triple chairs from the Wildcat lift, to be replaced this summer by a high-speed six-seater, are being sold for $150 — or four chairs for $500.

The triple chairs represent the third generation of Wildcat lift, which was installed in 1946 and ran through 1973. A Wildcat double chair ran parallel to it starting in 1964, then ran side-by-side with the triple chair, which followed the single-chair's line up the mountain. The double chair was retired in 1985.

Doppelmayr USA will build the new chair, which can go from bottom to top in six minutes and carry 3,000 passengers per hour — 10 times the original Wildcat's capacity.

To honor the lift's role in resort history, Snowbasin has created a picture montage that will be on display through April 15 in the Huntington Room in Earl's Lodge.

"The company's frequent focus groups bring dozens from all over the state to the Gateway mall, reintroducing them to the area," he added, noting that Gateway is getting a $100 million renovation for its owner, Phoenix-based real estate company Vestar.

Four Foods Group closes on $33M in capital to expand its operations

Four Foods Group of American Fork, owner of Kneaders and other restaurants, has closed on nearly $33 million in capital that will be used to expand its operations.

A day after making that announcement, the company said it had acquired 48 Little Caesars restaurants in Alabama and Louisiana. The purchase will add 800 employees to the Four Food Groups payroll, which will now number more than 3,000 at 97 restaurants in seven states, said co-founder and chief executive Andrew Smith.

CIT, a New York City bank that provides lending, leasing and management services to small and mid-sized businesses, supplied $22.7 million of the funding. The rest came from private investors and current Four Foods shareholders, a news release said.

Four Foods operates 44 Kneaders restaurants in the western United States. Four more are under construction. It also owns majority interests in the R&R Barbeque and Soda Shops. The company expects to generate $150 million in annual revenues.
