Wasatch Academy is headed back to the Big Apple.

The boys' basketball team from Mount Pleasant earned the No. 8 seed for the single-elimination DICK'S Sporting Goods High School Nationals at Christ the King High School in New York.

"The fact this is our second time — two years in a row — it's huge," Wasatch Academy coach Curtis Condie said.

The Tigers (24-4) will face top-seeded La Lumiere (26-1) from Indiana at 4 p.m. MT March 30. ESPNU will televise the game. The teams played last season, and Wasatch Academy earned an 80-71 win.

"Now we've estbalished ourselves as the top program in the state of Utah," Condie said.

There was no grand reveal of the invitation at Wasatch Academy. That's because the school still is on spring break.

"It was nice to call them individually and talk to them individually," Condie said.

The team will return to practice Monday before leaving for New York on March 29.

Wasatch Academy fell to Oak Hill Academy 81-64 in the first round of last year's tournament, but Condie said his team will know what to expect this year.

"It's completely different this year vs. last year," he said.
