A look at standout performers and key numbers from Tuesday's opening round of the Class 4A girls' basketball state tournament at Salt Lake Community College.

Mariah Martin

From tipoff to buzzer, the Alta senior led both in points and leadership. The guard scored 22 points while distributing the ball with precision in the win over Bountiful.

Savannah Sumsion

The Springville senior dominated with 25 points, including going 13 of 16 from the line. She added seven blocks as an anchor for the Red Devils' defense.

Keslee Stevenson

The Box Elder senior refused to lose as upstart Corner Canyon made a charge in the fourth quarter. With the pressure on the line, she hit 15 of 16 free-throw attempts, including 9 of 10 in the fourth quarter, to finish with a team-high 27 points.

Madison Grange

Not shy to put up a shot, the Skyline junior guard made 6 of 17 field goals for a game-high 19 points against Salem Hills. More importantly, she tallied four steals to lead the Eagles' defensive effort.

Lily Jex

The Maple Mountain senior scored 11 of her 14 points during a decisive 19-0 Golden Eagles' run to end the second quarter.

Miyalla Tarver

The Judge Memorial junior was consistent throughout the game, scoring four points in the first, four in the second, two in the third and three points in the fourth quarter for a game-high 13 points in the Bulldogs' win against Wasatch.

Sisilia Taliauli

The East junior post stepped out to swish 3 of her 5 3-point tries as part of a team-high 18 points for the Leopards.

The percentage of Hillcrest's scoring that came from post players Annabella Jensen and Cara Snowder in the Huskies' 46-36 loss to Maple Mountain. Snowder scored 16 points and Jensen 14.

The number of times Springville standout Savannah Sumsion has visited Savannah, Ga. Her mother named her after the city.

Points in the paint for Skyline against Salem Hills. The Eagles scored 24 of those in the second half.

Wasatch led for the entire way until Judge Memorial clamped down defensively. The Bulldogs limited the Wasps to two points in the fourth quarter to pull off the come-from-behind win.

Box Elder's Keslee Stevenson wasn't the only one to tally 27 points in the Bees' game against Corner Canyon. Chargers sophomore center Jaeden Vaifanua also finished with 27 points in the Chargers' first-ever postseason game.

Highland's rebounding advantage (44-25) against a smaller Timpview team. Despite the advantage, the Rams failed to advance past the first round for the second time in three seasons.

Number of consecutive wins by East against region winners. The Leopards beat its own region champion, Box Elder, in a road game to end the regular season to qualify for the postseason then knocked off Region 7 champion Mountain View to open the state tournament.

Number of free throws made in the second quarter by Bountiful senior Mary Larson. She finished with a team-high 19 points, including 11 in the second quarter, in the loss to Alta.
