Salt Lake City police have located one of two men possibly linked to an early morning robbery and stabbing at an apartment complex near Capitol Hill that left one man in critical condition.

Four hours after releasing photos of the men police wanted to interview, officers were back at the complex near 200 North and 200 West, talking with one of them, a 42-year-old man.

The interview came after police responded to a call saying a man was being robbed at 4:22 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they found the victim with stab wounds to his neck and back. The man was transported to a local hospital.

"He's not passed away yet, but the prognosis is not good," said Sgt. Brandon Shear, a spokesman for the department.

Police were looking for a 31-year-old man who goes by the name Bud, said Lt. Justin Hudson.

The 42-year-old had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in July after he gave an officer a false name when asked. He was wanted for a third-degree felony at the time. That incident took place at the same apartment complex police responded to Monday.

Hudson said he wasn't sure whether either man was a suspect.

"We just have detectives coming in to chat with him," the officer said.
