It is disappointing the Piano Guys joined the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the inauguration celebrations. While their reasons may have been lofty and sincere, much of the world likely perceived their participation as support for Donald Trump's behaviors and disdain of nonwhites, women and other groups — the antitheses of LDS Church values.

Church President Harold B. Lee once counseled President James E. Faust (New Era 2/97) to not only avoid evil but also the appearance of evil. While the Piano Guys and the choir's motives may be perceived wrongly, perception can be everything.
