Two more movies have been added to the line-up of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival — a romantic comedy, and a documentary about the presidential election just completed.
The comedy, in the Premieres section, is "Newness," about two millennials (Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa) attempting a relationship in the social-media world of modern L.A. It's directed by Drake Doremus and written by Ben York Jones, who collaborated on "Like Crazy," the romantic drama that won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2011.
"Trumped: Inside the Greatest Political Upset of All Time" will debut in the Documentary Features section. Directed by Banks Tarver, Ted Bourne and Mary Robertson — all executive producers on Showtime's documentary series "The Circus," which looked behind the scenes of the 2016 presidential campaign. The movie features journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, along with longtime political operative Mark McKinnon, who give inside access and never-before-seen footage of candidate Donald Trump, from the primaries to election night.
The two additions bring the total number of features playing at Sundance to 120. The festival runs Jan. 19-29 in Park City, and at venues in Salt Lake City and the Sundance resort.
