One person was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and five others were injured Saturday morning following a crash in Taylorsville involving eight vehicles, the Unified Police Department reported.

All of the vehicles were going west on 4700 South when one of them rear-ended the others at 2200 West at about 9:50 a.m., UPD said in a tweet.

Two people — one who was ejected from a vehicle and one who was extricated from the wreckage — were both taken to a hospital in critical condition, UPD tweeted. One was later upgraded to serious condition and four other people reportedly suffered more minor injuries.

Police said only the westbound lanes of 4700 South were initially affected by the crash. The lanes re-opened about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
