Gordon Hayward, the Jazz's leading scorer, will not play against Golden State on Thursday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena after re-aggravating a finger injury, the team has announced.

With Hayward sidelined, the Jazz will be without five of its top players against the high-flying Warriors. The list also includes George Hill (sprained toe), Derrick Favors (knee), Rodney Hood (hamstring) and Alex Burks (knee).

Hayward averages 23.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He has scored at least 22 points in the last nine games.

Hayward missed the first six games of the season because of a fractured finger. He re-injured it during Tuesday night's 112-105 win over Phoenix,

"Gordon has been playing with a broken finger, as you know," coach Quin Snyder said after Thursday morning's shootaround. "It's healing, but that's why it's braced. Frankly, I thought he re-broke it the last game. … He thought he re-broke it."

X-rays, taken during the win over the Suns, were negative and Hayward returned. But there is additional swelling to his finger. That's why he will miss the Jazz's highly anticipated game against Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and the Warriors.

"We've got guys playing hurt," Snyder said. "They will continue to do that. The injury-thing hasn't smiled on us. But … we can't feel sorry for ourselves because nobody else is. Guys have to continue to step up. That's what they've done so far."

Asked how the Jazz would produce points against Golden State with arguably their best five scorers in street clothes, Snyder smiled and said, "The same way we tried to do it with our four-best scorers out."

Seriously, Snyder hopes Jazz players like Dante Exum, Boris Diaw, Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles will be aggressive offensively against the Warriors.

"If we happen to get an open look, guys have to shoot it [because] they are very good defensively," Snyder said. "… They have a lot of pride in their defense. Their quickness and intelligence, they can swallow you up. You saw what they did last night."

Playing the first night of back-to-back games in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Golden State improved its record to 19-3 with a cruise-control 115-98 victory over the Clippers.

"It's a challenge, there's no question about it," Snyder said. "Hopefully it's one of those situations where we can manufacture some baskets and have a good shooting night. It's the kind of game you have to have a good night. … Everybody has to do a little more."
