Each Monday, we'll recap notable performances from local BYU, Utes, USU and SUU alumni in the NFL. Here's what stood out from week 13:
Best of the week: Dennis Pitta scores twice in Ravens win over Dolphins
After returning from a career-threatening hip injury this season, the former BYU tight end scored his first two touchdowns of the season and found the end zone for the first time since Dec. 8, 2013 in Baltimore's 38-6 rout over Miami. Overall, he caught nine passes for 90 yards and two scores, a late-game fumble the only negative mark on the day.
Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings
• Vikings RB Matt Asiata (Utah) had six carries for 30 yards. He also had one reception for -3 yards in 21 offensive snaps and seven special teams snaps.
Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons
• Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen (BYU) had four tackles and an assist in 34 defensive snaps and 20 special teams snaps.
• Chiefs QB Alex Smith (Utah) completed 21 passes in 25 attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown. He also had three carries for -3 yards and a fumble in all 49 offensive snaps.
San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears
• Bears FB Paul Lasike (BYU) had one kick return for five yards in 12 offensive snaps and 11 special teams snaps.
• Bears LS Patrick Scales (Utah State) played 10 special teams snaps.
• 49ers LG Zane Beadles (Utah) played all 58 offensive snaps and two special teams snaps.
Buffalo Bills at Oakland Raiders
• Raiders safety Keith McGill (Utah) played 22 special teams snaps.
• Raiders LT Donald Penn (Utah State) played all 71 offensive snaps and six special teams snaps.
• Raiders CB Sean Smith (Utah) had five tackles in 70 defensive snaps.
• Raiders LB/DE James Cowser (Southern Utah) had a tackle and a sack in eight defensive snaps and 19 special teams snaps.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Diego Chargers
• Chargers DT Tenny Palepoi (Utah) had one tackle assist in 18 defensive snaps and one special teams snap.
• Buccaneers DT Sealver Siliga (Utah) played five defensive snaps.
Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars
• Broncos RB Devontae Booker (Utah) had 18 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown. He also had one reception for two yards in 37 offensive snaps.
Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens
• Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (BYU) had nine receptions for 90 yards, two touchdowns and a fumble in 34 offensive snaps and one special teams snap. • Ravens WR Steve Smith Sr. (Utah) had six receptions for 53 yards and a forced fumble in 49 offensive snaps.
• Ravens safety Eric Weddle (Utah) had two tackles, an assist and an interception in 59 defensive snaps.
• Dolphins LS John Denney (BYU) played seven special teams snaps.
• Dolphins LB Zach Vigil (Utah State) played 12 special teams snaps.
Houston Texans at Green Bay Packers
• Packers safety Marwin Evans (Utah State) had one punt return for zero yards in 12 special teams snaps.
• Texans center Tony Bergstrom (Utah) played two special teams snaps.
Washington at Arizona Cardinals
• Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams (Utah State) played one offensive snap and 13 special teams snaps.
Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals
• Bengals LB Nick Vigil (Utah State) played six defensive snaps and 14 special teams snaps.
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints
• Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah (BYU) had one tackle and an assist played in 45 defensive snaps.
• Lions CB Nevin Lawson (Utah State) had six tackles and an assist in 57 defensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps.
• Lions safety Miles Killebrew (Southern Utah) had two tackles and an interception in 21 defensive snaps and 19 special teams snaps.
• Saints DE Paul Kruger (Utah) had one tackle in 38 defensive snaps and six special teams snaps.
Los Angeles Rams at New England Patriots
• Rams safety Maurice Alexander (Utah State) had five tackles and an assist in 75 defensive snaps and seven special teams snaps.
• Patriots LB Kyle Van Noy (BYU) had four tackle assists and an interception in 41 defensive snaps and 16 special teams snaps.
• Patriots CB Eric Rowe (Utah) had two tackles in 33 defensive snaps and five special teams snaps.
Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks
• Panthers DT Star Lotulelei (Utah) had two tackle assists in 46 defensive snaps and eight special teams snaps.
• Panthers LB Jared Norris (Utah) played 18 special teams snaps.
• Panthers guard Tyler Larsen (Utah State) played all 58 offensive snaps and one special teams snap.
• Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner (Utah State) had four tackles and six assists in all 58 defensive snaps and four special teams snaps.
