Ballet West performing artists, including Allison DeBona as the Snow Queen, rehearse Thursday night for the troupe's holiday run of "The Nutcracker," which opens Friday night. The company's 61st production of the holiday favorite will be a retirement party, of sorts, with new sets, costumes and special effects coming next year. While meticulously maintained, the current sets and costumes are 25 years old. Willam Christensen's beloved choreography and Tchaikovsky's iconic score will remain. "The Nutcracker" features 26 matinee and evening performances through Dec. 26 at the Capitol Theatre. Visit balletwest.org for details.
