A woman was killed in a two-car collision early Sunday morning in Provo.

At about 1:50 a.m., witnesses reported seeing a Jeep Liberty driving northbound near 6000 N. University Ave. at a high rate of speed. The Jeep drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a southbound Chevy Malibu being driven by Maria Rodriguez, 54, who was killed instantly, according to Provo police Sgt. Brian Taylor.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as a 26-year-old man, was taken to Utah Valley Medical Center and is listed in serious condition.

Taylor said there is an ongoing DUI investigation regarding the surviving driver.
