The University of Utah has increased police patrols in parking lots one day after a female student reported being raped on campus by a man wearing a mask.

As part of a investigation of the incident, officers also reviewed surveillance video and processed evidence Tuesday, according to a news release from U. police. There are no suspects in the case, though, and no reports of similar criminal activity on campus.

The female student told police a man wearing black and a Grim Reaper-style mask forced her into the back seat of her parked car near the Merrill Engineering Building on Monday. He sexually assaulted her at gunpoint, she says, and left on foot. The rapist is believed to be 6 feet tall.

Counselors will talk with students in the engineering school, according to the news release, and anyone who wants support can call the Center for Student Wellness at 801-581-7779.

Anyone with information about the case — or looking to request a security escort — is asked to call campus police at 801-585-2677.
