Firefighters from multiple Utah County agencies battled a stubborn blaze along the shores of Utah Lake through the night, but finally snuffed the flames around dawn Friday.

Utah County Fire Capt. Andy Watson said the fire, whipped by winds through dense, oily patches of phragmites reeds, burned more than 100 acres.

Along with the efforts of crews from UCF, as well as Provo, Orem and Pleasant Grove, firefighters benefited from overnight winds that turned the blaze back upon itself.

"It burned through the night, but it has now consumed all the fuels and is under control," Watson said. "There will be a little smoke visible through the day, but we have people there to make sure [it doesn't reignite]."

No structures were lost and no evacuations were needed. No injuries were reported, either.

The cause of the fire remained undetermined. Investigators planned to be on-scene throughout Friday looking for clues about how the blaze began.
