Pumpkin projectiles pummeled parking spots while people participated in a gourd-flinging contest at South Towne Center in Sandy on Thursday. Using a trebuchet modeled after a Middle Age siege engine contestants in costumes picked the harvested projectiles, loaded them onto the giant pumpkin tosser and pulled a rope to launch them 100 feet in attempts to hit a van in the parking lot — a feat Brian Larson accomplished. Larson won VIP suite tickets to Carrie Underwood's Maverik Center concert on Nov. 28. The K-Bull 93 radio station sponsored the event and provided the concert tickets.
