A man stabbed another man in the back with a pitchfork in St. George on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Officers got the report about 2:20 p.m. of a stabbing at a residence near 300 North and 300 West, said St. George police spokeswoman Lona Trombley. The two men apparently knew each other, though officers are unsure what precipitated the attack.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was "not bleeding badly," but he reported having difficulty breathing, Trombley said. He was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect was in custody.
