New York • Stocks opened slightly lower on Wall Street after several companies issued disappointing results and forecasts.

Apparel maker Under Armour sank 14 percent early Tuesday as investors worried that its growth is slowing down. Appliance maker Whirlpool dropped 10 percent after its own results came up short of forecasts.

At 7:35 a.m. Mountain time, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 14 points, or 0.1 percent, to 18,207.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 2 points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,148. The Nasdaq composite climbed 3 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,306.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 1.78 percent.
