The Emery County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday that a burlap bag full of suspected explosives found in a remote, abandoned building was destroyed by bomb disposal experts from neighboring Utah County.

The sack, containing what appeared to be aged sticks of dynamite, has first reported found by a landowner and companion on Oct. 14 as they were trying to salvage wood from a collapsed structure located roughly between the towns of Cleveland and Elmo.

The landowner, who was not identified, contacted the sheriff's office and deputies secured the scene.

In a statement, the sheriff's office said it then asked for assistance from the Utah County Sheriff's Bomb Squad. Four bomb technicians traveled from Provo to the site last Saturday, and using a robot retrieved the bag, removed it to a safe location and detonated it.

No injuries were reported.

The discovery of the explosives remained under investigation.
